Telling your business story is becoming more and more important as a
way to connect with consumers. They are interested in why you are a
business and what you stand for. There are many ways to tell your story,
and the more ways you allow consumers to get to know you and your
business the more likely they are to purchase from you.
One easier way to show your potential customers who you are is through your website. A about us page on your website is always a good idea as it gives customers the
option to learn more about your business. There is also a good amount of
content on that page which helps with search engine optimization as well. Including visuals such as photos and video on your About Us page will help in connecting with your customer even more.
In early 2012 Facebook
made some major layout changes to Business Pages, introducing the
Timeline feature. Using this, you can tell the story of your business
throughout the years. Using what Facebook calls “Milestones” you can ill out
your Timeline with pertinent information and photos about your
business. Say you expanded to a new building or added a new product, add
them to your Timeline.
One of the best ways to tell the story about your business is through the use of video marketing. Youtube
is the second largest search engine in the world which means consumers
love to watch videos. Using video is a great way to make a first
impression with a customer before they even purchase from you.
I use these videos to connect with my clients and potential clients
on a more personal level, and you can do the same. Video allows your
customers to know, like and trust you, because they are “meeting” you on
your website or social network before meeting you in person.
The other great aspect of using video marketing is it is yours and yours alone. Your competitors are less likely to use your video for their own business because it has you
in it, not them. Your video is completely unique to your business and
your story and is really the only piece of content that you can put out
there that is yours.
However you choose to tell your story, remember it is an important part of your internet marketing strategy.
In today’s hyper-connected world, consumers are looking to connect with
the businesses they purchase from. They want more than just a name or
product and are looking beyond the surface to connect with the business
that sells to them. So, go on, tell your story.
